MILES - Improve modelling capacity to support low emission development strategies, for the European Commission, DG Climate Action

The purposes of this project are: to strengthen the economic modelling capacity of developing countries and to develop an evidence-based dialogue between all beneficiary countries on lowemission development pathways, fully involving developing countries partners

  • By enabling a technical dialogue and sharing experience between experts in all beneficiary countries on ways to develop models, scenarios, interpretations of modelling results and interactions with policy makers, aiming to facilitate open, transparent and constructive policy discussions on low-emission development pathways in each of the beneficiary countries
  • By enabling modelling work in developing countries on low-emission development scenarios, participation to international comparison of modelling exercise, and analysis of model-based findings from all beneficiary countries in order to advance the dialogue about possible lowemission development pathways amongst all beneficiary countries

The report “Beyond the Numbers: Understanding the Transformation Induced by INDCs” has been prepared by the MILES project Consortium.

The objective of this report is to understand the implications of INDCs of the 5 countries and 1 region covered by the project (US, China, Japan, EU, Brazil and India), both at a national and global level, by investigating the concrete implications of INDCs for the low-carbon transformation by and beyond 2030, from energy systems, buildings to transport and industry.

Inside NDCs: national strategies in the light of the Paris Agreement  This report has been prepared by the MILES project Consortium and collects the new low-carbon pathways developed by in-country research teams in the project, taking into account the socio-economic specificities of each country and trying to address some of the development issues associated with the decarbonization process. Part of the report concerning the region of the Europen Union Climate policies, NDC and low-carbon pathways has been written by E3MLab.
