PAECC-ENERGY: Prospective Analysis of Energy and Climate Change Indicators in Enlargement Countries

The objective of the PAECC-ENERGY project is to analyse the past trends and, mainly, to undergo the prospective analysis of the environmental headline indicators mentioned above in the enlargement countries.

There are three headline indicators related to the energy and climate change strand:

  • Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions
  • Energy intensity of the economy and
  • Share of renewables in electricity generation
  • Sectoral GHG emissions and
  • Energy supply external dependency by fuels

The geographical scope of the study covers the 12 CC: Bulgaria (BG), Cyprus (CY), Czech Republic (CZ), Estonia (EE), Hungary (HU), Latvia (LV), Lithuania (LT), Malta (MT), Poland (PL), Romania (RO), Slovak Republic (SK) and Slovenia (SL). These countries are assessed to the extent of data and information availability. For certain research tasks, it may be justified to exclude some of these countries from the scope (e.g. due to non-availability or low reliability of data).
