The Role of Electricity, study for EURELECTRIC
E3MLab was responsible for the third and last part of this project dealing with modelling different paths for electricity demand and supply in Europe. The aim of the modelling work carried out within the Role of Electricity project was to quantify long-term scenarios for the future evolution of the energy demand and supply sectors in Europe. For this purpose, the PRIMES energy system model has been applied to provide detailed projections up to 2030 and the Prometheus world energy model to perform consistency analysis of world energy markets and longer-term projections up to 2050. The projections based on the PRIMES model were carried out with a high level of detail, on a country-by-country basis for all current and potential future members of the European Union (in total 30 countries).
