Eurostat has to reconsider the settings for information collection about the electricity sector and design a new process to meet the growing needs for information in this sector as a result of the application of the EC Electricity Directive of 1996 about electricity market liberalisation.
This report aimed to set the basic principles around which a redesigned information system for the electricity sector could become useful to the multiple actors of the new electricity markets and to the policy makers and regulators of this market.
