This paper provides an overview of the methodology used in energy policy analysis. The quantitative approaches used for the energy supply analysis, the energy demand analysis and the energy-economy interactions, are surveyed in relation to their use in key analysis problem. The paper concludes by proposing some new research directions concerning mainly the improvement of the methodologies used in quantitative and modelling approaches, and the development of the energy decision process analysis.
