R&D for SD: Modelling R&D for Sustainable Development, for European Commission, DG Research
The project consists in describing sustainable development scenarios with the NEMESIS econometric model and in defining policy instruments that allow to reach sustainable development goals and in assessing for the cost of sustainable development policies. We will emphasize the role of R&D, innovation and knowledge diffusion to reach goals of sustainable development. For this reason, we will extend the usual set of sustainable development indicators to technological variables and we will extend the European econometric model to the USA and Japan that are the two major innovative countries. We will try furthermore to assess for the cost for Europe of sustainable development policies without the USA commitment, since in this case the others countries will be penalized because R&D trajectory of the major innovative country will not be adapted to sustainable development.
