Data Scientists and Modelers 

E3MLab Energy-Economy-Environment Modelling Laboratory (www.e3mlab.eu) operating within the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is a laboratory that specializes in the construction and use of large-scale computerised models covering the areas of Energy, the Economy and the Environment that are heavily used by the European Commission and in Horizon Europe research projects regularly feeding into the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment reports.

We are looking for two (2) experienced and motivated Data Scientists and Modelers to join our expanding global Integrated Assessment Modelling team.

Job Functions

In this position you will perform quantitative research to support various activities of the energy system model PROMETHEUS. More specifically, you will:

  • Collect, structure, keep up-to-date and analyze large datasets with relevance for energy, economy and transport.
  • Review and summarize scientific, technical and market reports into inputs necessary for quantitative assessments.
  • Learn and develop energy system modelling tools using the software GAMS, R and/or Python.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must:

  • Hold a BSc and/or MSc degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Data Science or Physics.
  • Have 2-4 years of proven research and/or work experience on data analysis and/or energy analysis and related quantitative methods in similar roles.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use analytical and modelling tools, preferably GAMS or R for modelling and data analysis.
  • Advanced in R (creating and maintaining R packages, tidyverse, plotting).
  • Python, Git&Github, Latex, are considered important pluses.
  • Be an excellent user of MS Office especially MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Be proficient in oral and written communication in English.
  • Have an analytical and problem-solving mindset, collaborative attitude and be eager to learn.
